The program has been carried out many times in various locations and events in Jakarta, such as Car Free Day (CFD) in Jakarta, Kota Tua, Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, and many more.
Indonesia Asri is a campaign established by Chandra Asri Group to actualize a greener Indonesia. In addition, this campaign invites the public to gain more knowledge on a sustainable environment and preserving nature for future generations.
The Series of #AksiAsri Operasi Semut by Indonesia
As mentioned before, Operasi Semut has been held for several series until 2024. The complete series of Operasi Semut from Volume 1 to 7 is as follows:
1. Operasi Semut Volume 1
Operasi Semut Volume 1 was held in Car Free Day FX Sudirman on Monday, January 29, 2023. The cleaning waste program has a background of public enthusiasm for outdoor activities after the pandemic.
However, the amount of waste generated by activities such as Car Free Day, concerts, and other outdoor events has also increased. In fact, data reported that Car Free Day could produce 5 tonnes of waste in a day.
Also, there is a lack of awareness among Indonesians about the importance of sorting waste. Based on this background, the Indonesia Asri campaign through Operasi Semut seeks to educate the public about sorting waste through the #pilahsampah activity.

2. Operasi Semut Volume 2
This action was held in Car Free Day FX Sudirman on Monday, May 28, 2023. With a similar background to Volume 1, Indonesia Asri carried out a waste-picking and waste-sorting activity to help the public understand the circular economy. From Volume 1 and 2, the Indonesia Asri campaign managed to collect 22.65 kg of waste.
3. Operasi Semut Volume 3 and 4
#AksiAsri Operasi Semut Volume 3 was carried out in Plaza Senayan on Monday, October 8, 2023, precisely at the pre-event of the Jakarta Marathon 2023. Then, Operasi Semut Volume 4 was held in Gelora Bung Karno on Monday, October 22, 2023, in the main event of the Jakarta Marathon 2023.
One of the action backgrounds was the increasing sports event trends in Indonesia. Hundreds to thousands of people participated in this event, making it a great medium to educate a larger number of audiences, such as sports enthusiasts, runners, and event enthusiasts.
Hopefully, Indonesia Asri, through Operasi Semut, can reach wider audiences by participating in similar events. As a result, many people will understand the importance of sorting waste and adopting a sustainable lifestyle. From Volume 3 and 4 in Jakarta Marathon 2023, Indonesia Asri managed to collect more than 86 kg of waste.

4. Operasi Semut Volume 5
Moving forward to 2024, Operasi Semut was still promoted to motivate more people and contribute to nature preservation. Operasi Semut Volume 5 was held in Kota Tua, Jakarta on Monday, June 2, 2023, which also celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2024.
The activity was carried out in Kota Tua because it is one of the icons of Jakarta. It also serves as a gathering place for many levels of society, ranging from the locals and domestic visitors, to tourists, making the scope of the campaign wider.
Not only that, but Kota Tua is also one of the historical places and an icon in Jakarta. As a result, more people realize the importance of nature preservation by sorting waste, among others. This action succeeded in gathering 24 kg of waste.
5. Operasi Semut Volume 6 and 7
Operasi Semut Volume 6 and 7 were held on October 12–13, 2024, in Istora Senayan, Jakarta, precisely during the Jakarta Running Festival (JRF). This series had many interesting activities, such as a showcase of Chandra Asri Group’s circular economy processed products, such as plastic asphalt and pyrolysis oil.
Aside from that, there were many captivating games to test Warga Asri’s knowledge about the environment. Certainly, many interesting merchandise were distributed at this event. From this action, Indonesia Asri managed to collect 75 kg of waste.
Chandra Asri Group through Indonesia Asri expanded into sports events due to the increasing trend of sports events and public enthusiasm for a healthy lifestyle after the pandemic. Therefore, the Indonesia Asri campaign continues to be encouraged to provide education about awareness of sustainable lifestyles for a greener Indonesia.
