#AksiAsri Beralih
Breaking fast together while sorting, selecting, and discussing the environment for a greener Indonesia.

#AksiAsri Beralih
#AksiAsri Beralih is an initiative born out of concern over the increasing waste production during Ramadan, which leads to environmental pollution.

Event Program
Date : Wednesday, 31 March 2023 | 4:00 PM
Location : Skyloft Thamrin, Jakarta
Background
Ramadan is a blessed month for Muslims, symbolizing purity, togetherness, and cleanliness. Maintaining and enhancing cleanliness during this sacred time is an expression of gratitude and a positive practice to strengthen faith and devotion to the Almighty.
However, facts show that in recent Ramadans, the amount of waste generated by society has increased, leading to environmental pollution, especially in public places such as mosques, bazaars, fields, and other communal areas. This is ironic, considering that Islam places great importance on cleanliness, both physically (externally) and spiritually (internally).
As part of efforts to raise awareness about environmental responsibility, Indonesia Asri is organizing the Aksi Asri Beralih 1.0 event, which includes a communal iftar and an educational talk show. Aligned with Indonesia Asri’s commitment as a platform that educates the public, this event invites Sobat Asri and Warga Asri to collectively care for the environment through the adoption of circular economy principles.
This event serves as a platform for exchanging insights, expanding knowledge, and encouraging active participation in creating a clean and eco-friendly Ramadan.

Location : Greyhound Café, Thamrin, Jakarta
Background
The month of Ramadan is a special moment that resonates with the spirit of restraint, empathy, and kindness. Unfortunately, this true spirit is often not reflected in people’s consumption habits. Data in 2023 states that the amount of waste generated during the month of Ramadan increased by 20% compared to other months. This spike is mostly caused by excessive food and single-use packaging waste, especially during iftar. Overconsumption and lack of waste segregation are habits that contradict the values of Ramadan itself.
Through this interactive session of Aksi Asri Beralih, the Sobat Asri community will dive into the idea of a circular economy and learn why separating our waste matters. Simple habits like sorting trash at home can actually help reduce what ends up in landfills and even turn waste into something useful and valuable.
This event serves as a platform to learn, share ideas, and take concrete initiatives to make Ramadan more eco-friendly.

Background
In Indonesia, 12 million kilotons of used cooking oil is generated annually from the household sector (Source: Traction Energy Asia). Used cooking oil has negative impacts on lives, such as health risks and environmental pollution. Thus, this initiative to collect used cooking oil can be part of influencing a sustainable lifestyle, as well as supporting the production of environmentally friendly fuels.
In this interactive discussion at Aksi Asri Beralih, the Sobat Asri community was introduced to one of the initiatives that is currently also part of Chandra Asri Group’s circular economy program, namely the collection of used cooking oil (jelantah) as recyclable household waste. This used cooking oil collection initiative was launched under MINYAKU (Used Cooking Oil Collection Management for the Environment) which targets the assisted communities around Chandra Asri Group’s operations, including businesses, particularly in the Cilegon area. In the storage and recycling process, Chandra Asri Group partners with TUKR, a company that has been certified and licensed in the management of used cooking oil.
With the introduction of this program, it is hoped that the Sobat Asri community will have knowledge of the impact of repeated use of used cooking oil and understand that used cooking oil that is not managed properly can cause environmental pollution.
